Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Solutions

“What happens if the lights go out?”

So you’ve made all the right moves to implement an IT systems architecture that is not only capable of supporting your core business unit’s operational needs, but is also redundant to the nth degree. Life is good. But what if…

We all know that no matter how strong your building and data center are, there are some things outside your control. Extreme weather, loss of a key human resource or personnel, city-wide blackouts to name a few. You may not be able to prevent them, but you can be prepared for them.

COMTEK Group is here to help with your preparation efforts.

Due to our unique position as a staffing, recruiting and project solutions delivery firm and our partnerships with other provisioning agencies like COMTEK Solutions and Rhino Resources, COMTEK Group is well situated to support your core business and IT infrastructure objectives in ways other than just human resources. We can also help you to establish Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Plans to protect the asset investments you’ve already made.

What is Disaster Recovery and why should we care?

Disaster Recovery is the process, policies and procedures of restoring operations critical to the resumption of business, including regaining access to data (records, hardware, software, etc.), communications (incoming, outgoing, toll-free, fax, etc.), workspace, and other business processes after a natural or human-induced disaster.

To increase the opportunity for a successful recovery of valuable records, a well-established and thoroughly tested disaster recovery plan must be developed. This task requires the cooperation of a well-organized and dedicated team and preferably “owned” by an executive-level stakeholder or a dedicated and sponsored project leader.

A disaster recovery plan (DRP) should also include plans for coping with the unexpected or sudden loss of communications and/or key personnel. Disaster recovery planning is part of a larger process known as business continuity planning (BCP).

What is Business Continuity Planning (BCP)?

Simply put, BCP is how an organization prepares for future incidents that could jeopardize the organization's core mission and its long-term health. Incidents include local disasters like building fires, regional incidents like earthquakes, or national incidents like pandemic illnesses.

COMTEK Group can help to create and validate a practiced logistical plan for how your organization will recover and restore partially or completely interrupted critical function(s) within a predetermined time after a disaster or extended disruption - the primary purpose of BCP.

This process may also be integrated with improving information security and corporate reputation risk management practices.
